The story of Karen Murrell began during the summer of 2008 when a brilliant red display of pohutukawas blossomed at Auckland’s Takapuna beach.
It was here that Karen Murrell herself took inspiration in creating the first shade of our premium, natural lipsticks.
Designed to inject colour into your day, the beauty of our products is in both our formula and our shades.
Our pure, natural formula consists of avocado and evening primrose oils, candelilla, carnauba wax, cinnamon, and sweet orange.
When you wear our products, your lips are treated with every application, and the condition of your lips improves the longer you wear them.
We believe that anyone dressed up in beautiful lipstick can brighten a room like a bouquet of fresh blooms – and it is that captivating confidence which inspires everything we do.
MEET KAREN, OUR LIPSTICK CREATOR
Since she was a young girl, Karen Murrell has always had a love for beautiful lipsticks.
Karen draws her inspiration from her Nana Gwen and her love for nature, flowers and travels to capture new lip shades.
Karen continually formulates breathtaking hues which effortlessly enhance the natural beauty of everyone’s complexion.
“I cut my teeth formulating skincare, and during that time, I saw a gap in the market for a natural lipstick that was environmentally friendly yet functionally good like any top international brand.
I adore combining my love of flowers and colour into a lipstick collection to inject colour into your day.”
OUR PRODUCT PROMISE
The art of creating beautiful, natural lip colours is our vocation. Karen designs each one with love and care, and promises every product will
Glide on and feel heavenly to wear.
Tantalise the senses with its fragrance.
Be long lasting, glamorous and stay on the lips.
Be a burst of colour that’s the same for every complexion.
From product to packaging, we believe in natural all the way. Our packaging is printed with vegetable-based inks on sustainably sourced paper by an FSC-certified printing company (that means they’re committed to caring for our forests).
We have had many requests as of late for samples. While individual, pre-packaged samples may be a win for safety, they're a loss for sustainability. The large majority of plastic packaging used for beauty products goes unrecycled, either due to improper sorting or size (plastics less than three inches in height are typically too small to be processed in recycling facilities. These plastics eventually end up in landfills or bodies of water, where they continue to break up into smaller — and more dangerous — microplastic particles until the end of time. These particles then infiltrate the air and the soil, and are consumed by both marine life and humans. (Not-so-fun fact: according to Greenpeace, plastic never fully decomposes, so every piece of plastic ever created still exists!)
Women ingest 2kg of lipstick over a lifetime, so we’re proud to present you with products that are free from all nasties - No Karen Murrell product contains coal tar, carmine, triclosan, parabens, or mineral oils.
